overviewBoston is a coastal city located right next to the Atlantic Ocean. Not only is it next to the Atlantic Ocean, the Charles River flows right through the city. A city that's so close to so much water should do its best to make sure that water is as clean as possible. Without Boston's water, it would lose its fishing industry and a huge part of what makes Boston a beautiful city.

rivers, lakes, oceansBoston's waterBoston has quite a few bodies of water, and each are in danger of getting polluted. It's ideal that we try the best we can to prevent these beautiful bodies of water from becoming polluted again.
While singers may "love that dirty water," the many species of wildlife that rely on our water do not. |
is water pollution an issue in boston?
Absolutely yes. While Boston may be better off than other areas right now, it wasn't that long ago when rivers such as the Charles were completely unsafe to swim and fish in. Only after more than two decades of cleanup projects is the Charles River at a state where it's mostly safe to swim and fish in. In the 1980s, the Boston Harbor was called "The Harbor of Shame," and was considered one of the most polluted harbors in the country. It took over 30 years to get the Harbor back to where it is today.
Water pollution can absolutely harm our water. It has in the past, and can harm it again if the city of Boston gets complacent.
